Our Work

The creation of the Joseph and Susan Pisacano Memorial Foundation was inspired by a profound desire to commemorate the legacy of my late foster parents. The sincere love demonstrated by Joe and Sue provided invaluable support during times when I felt disconnected from my own family. In a modest endeavor, we aim to perpetuate their legacy by promoting kindness within the community. Each year, the Foundation awards a scholarship ranging from $500 to $1,000 to a graduating senior from Walt Whitman High School—my foster parents' hometown—or another local high school. To promote inclusivity, the eligibility requirements are as follows: The recipient must: 1. Be a foster child or have experienced the loss of a parent(s), and 2. Be graduating from a high school where they are currently enrolled as a senior. At the Foundation, we are committed to maintaining adaptable guidelines for the scholarship. Consequently, the recipient is granted the freedom to utilize the funds in any manner they deem appropriate—whether for further education, vocational training, military service, or entering the workforce.

Kim Nguyen (Esq. of Counsel)

Kim is a licensed New York attorney, who is also admitted to practice in the Eastern and Southern Districts of U.S. Federal Court. She attended Hunter College for her BA and Pace University for her JD. Kim’s practice ranges from Labor and Employment to brokering business sales, and everything in between. She has extensive experience negotiating labor contracts. Her focus on Labor and Employment reaches from Federal and State agencies, like the National Labor Relations Board to private arbitration litigation. Jokingly, Kim likes to say that she can help with everything except for personal injury and (contested) divorces. Kim truly believes that legal and business knowledge should be available for those who want it; therefore, she has and continues to provide law-rate or pro bono legal counsel to individuals and organizations. In addition to being an attorney, Kim is a real estate broker, NYS notary, and an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church (thanks to the internet).
